Palmetto Fossils is a home for the megalodon teeth and shark fossils that come out of South Carolina’s Lowcountry waters. Every piece is a genuine, one-of-a-kind specimen — catalogued, authenticated, and sold exactly once. When it’s gone, it’s gone. The whole experience is built to earn a collector’s trust the moment they land on the page.
The idea
Buying a fossil online usually asks you to take a stranger’s word for it. Is it real? Was anything restored? Where did it actually come from? Palmetto Fossils answers those questions up front, on every listing, before anyone has to ask. Provenance, restoration, and grade are stated plainly, and each sale ships with a certificate and a lifetime authenticity guarantee. Trust isn’t a badge in the footer — it’s the whole product.
What we built
Because no two fossils are alike, the store treats every specimen as a single listing that can only be sold once — so the same tooth can never be bought twice. Alongside the shop we built a live auction house for the standout pieces, with real-time bidding that holds up under a last-second rush, and a growing guides library that helps collectors learn how to identify, grade, and care for what they’re buying.
Where it’s headed
The catalogue grows as new specimens come out of the water, the auction calendar fills in around the rarest finds, and the guides keep turning curious visitors into confident collectors. It’s a small, specialized business built to feel as solid and permanent as the fossils it sells.
